After ‘strange’ setbacks, Jairzinho Rozenstruik realizes he must push pace at UFC Fight Night 189

LAS VEGAS – Jairzinho Rozenstruik isn’t used to losing, so the process of having to go back to the drawing board and recuperate has been a bit foreign ahead of UFC Fight Night 189.

“(They were) crazy and strange,” Rozenstruik told MMA Junkie at a pre-fight media day Wednesday. “But this is an opportunity to get better. I’m happy I’m here and that I have this quick turnaround. … I have to be the first guy to throw for this fight. It doesn’t matter what’s going to happen or how it’s going to happen. I’m going to be the first guy pushing backward. This fight is going to be exciting.”

UFC Fight Night 189 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+, which Rozenstruik (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) headlines against Augusto Sakai (15-2-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC).
