Andre Ewell vs. Chris Gutierrez late addition to UFC 258 lineup

UFC 258 is just five days away, but the promotion has added another fight to the lineup.

Andre Ewell and Chris Gutierrez will square off at the event Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The fight will take place at a 140-pound catchweight.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after an Instagram post by Gutierrez’s gym Factory X mentioned it. The people asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Ewell (17-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) was supposed to compete at this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 184, but was removed from the card when he presented a positive COVID-19 test – despite presenting two negative follow-up tests. Ewell currently is riding a two-fight winning streak with wins over Irwin Rivera and Jonathan Martinez.

Gutierrez (15-3-2 MMA, 3-1-1 UFC) has not competed since a draw with Cody Durden this past August. That snapped a three-fight winning streak for Gutierrez with victories over Vince Morales, Geraldo de Freitas and Ryan MacDonald.

With the addition, the UFC 258 lineup now includes:
