Angela Lee claps back at haters as ONE Championship star responds to social media jibes

As one of the biggest stars on ONE Championship’s roster, Angela Lee is used to the haters.

Hawaii’s Lee (10-2) has been groomed for stardom ever since she joined the Singapore-based promotion as a teenager and became the youngest fighter to capture a major title back at ONE Championship 42 in 2016, when she defeated Mei Yamaguchi to win the ONE women’s atomweight title in only her fifth professional fight.

It saw her earn a huge contract with ONE as she became the poster girl for the promotion, and the leading light for female MMA athletes in Asia.

While the success has brought its rewards, it has also brought the haters, with Lee receiving plenty of disparaging messages online ahead of her fights. And now, with Lee currently on hiatus from the ONE Championship cage while she prepares to have her first child with her husband and fellow ONE athlete Bruno Pucci, her status as ONE’s atomweight queen is being questioned.

Lee took the opportunity to directly answer some of the recent messages aimed at her by appearing in a video on ONE Championship’s YouTube channel, where she clapped back at critics of her fighting style, her heritage, and her status as champion.

As those who know Lee would probably expect, she handled it all with a smile and a twinkle in her eye. But we couldn’t help but notice her tone get more serious when talk turned to her title. Clearly, she has no plans to relinquish her belt, and will be more than happy to take on all-comers when she returns to action.
