Bellator 247 results: Denise Kielholtz starches Kate Jackson in 43 seconds

Bellator MMA

Bellator Kickboxing champ Denise Kielholtz made perfect use of her heavy hands in Bellator 247’s short-notice main event, starching Kate Jackson with a flurry of punches to pick up a stoppage just 43 seconds into the fight.

From the outset, Jackson didn’t cover up well as Kielholtz winged fastballs at her head, and after a few initial skirmishes, she was sent tumbling across the Bellator canvas after taking a left hook to the head. Kielholtz followed with more punches, one of which skirted with illegality, before referee Dan Miragliotta was able to save Jackson in the main event of Thursday’s event at Allianz Cloud in Milan, Italy.

“I have a plan, and every time I step into this cage, the plan works,” Kielholtz said afterward. “That was not exactly [the plan], but it was a little bit like this.”

Check out the finish:

Bellator 247 aired live on CBS Sports Network. The event lost its main draw 24 hours before the opening curtain when welterweight slugger Paul Daley was ruled out of a fight with Derek Anderson due to complications from a weight cut, the second time the matchup had been canceled after Daley wasn’t cleared for a 2016 bout.

It was a night of fast finishes in Italy. The co-headliner, Norbert Novenyi Jr. vs. Laid Zerhouni, ended shortly before the end of first frame when Novenyi Jr. finally found a submission that made Zerhouni tap. Novenyi Jr., the son of Hungarian Olympic wrestler Norbert Novenyi, got clipped with a left hand before taking his opponent to the canvas. He rolled Zerhouni with an anaconda choke attempt and reversed position when he got swept. As it turned out, being on the bottom was the winning formula when Zerhouni submitted to a triangle choke.

Straight Blast Gym product Brian Moore showed some serious heart against Simone D’Anna, rebounding from an early knockdown in the second frame to rally a comeback. After regaining his wits on the mat, Moore got up and started finding his range with a heavy punches. He pushed back D’Anna, who in the first tenderized his legs with kicks, and landed a right hand that sent his opponent unconscious to the canvas at the 3:55 mark of Round 2.

In the main card opener, Iamik Furtado was denied redemption after a split-call loss to Kiefer Crosbie in his previous outing. A resilient Chris Duncan took his best punches and landed a left hook that set in motion a TKO at the 3:58 mark of the second.
