Bellator signs Darina Madzyuk, flyweight who beat 529-pound man in freak show fight

Bellator MMA has made a unique addition to its flyweight roster.

MMA Fighting confirmed with people with knowledge of the signing that Russia’s Darina Mazdyuk has joined Bellator, following an initial report by Barstool Sports.

Mazdyuk recently became familiar to combat sports fans after she took part in an intergender exhibition bout in Moscow that saw her compete against a male opponent who weighed in at 529 pounds. The bout lasted less than 90 seconds with Mazdyuk winning by TKO after landing strikes on the ground against an exhausted Grigory Chistyakov.

Veteran referee Marc Goddard commented on the exhibition, calling it “shameful,” “sickening,” and “abysmal.”

Mazdyuk, 28, owns a 3-1 record. She made her pro MMA debut in February of 2019.
