Carlos Condit vs. Max Griffin targeted for UFC 264 on July 10

Max Griffin will get his wish when he takes on one of the most notable names in the welterweight division.

Griffin (17-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) meets Carlos Condit (32-13 MMA, 9-9 UFC) at UFC 264, which takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, pending bout finalization.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Griffin is coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since joining the UFC roster in 2016. After he stopped Ramiz Brahimaj by nearly severing his ear, Griffin scored a first-round “Performance of the Night” bonus-earning knockout of Song Kenan at UFC on ESPN 21 in March. After Griffin beat Brahimaj, he called for Condit and he will now get his wish when he squares off with one the of the division’s most popular fighters.

Former interim champion and welterweight title challenger Condit is currently enjoying a career resurgence where he’s snapped a five-fight losing skid with two straight unanimous decision wins over Court McGee and most recently Matt Brown at UFC on ABC 1 in January. Condit entered the Brown matchup on the final fight of his UFC contract and it appears the 37-year-old has inked a new deal.

With the addition, the UFC 264 lineup includes:

  • Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor
  • Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson
