Christos Giagos steps in on short notice to fight Carlton Minus at UFC Vegas 17

Christos Giagos | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

On less than a week’s notice, Christos Giagos is seizing his chance to fight before the end of the year.

People with knowledge of the new matchup confirmed to MMA Fighting that Giagos (17-8) will fight Carlton Minus (10-2, 1 NC) at UFC Vegas 17 on Saturday. Giagos replaces Rick Glenn, who was pulled from the matchup after testing positive for COVID-19.

Glenn’s withdrawal and Giagos’ involvement were first reported by BJPenn.com.

Giagos is making up for last time after an injury forced him out of an April 25 booking against Alan Patrick. “The Spartan” most recently fought in August 2019, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Drakkar Klose at UFC 241. His UFC record sits at 3-4 across two separate stints with the promotion.

Minus seeks his first UFC win after dropping a unanimous decision to Matthew Semelsberger in his promotional debut this past August. Prior to joining the UFC, Minus competed primarily for Alaska FC and made one appearance for the PFL in 2018.
