Josh Fremd vs. Bruno Oliveira headlines LFA 98 in Kansas

The LFA continues to build its 2021 schedule with the addition of an event at the end of the month in Kansas.

LFA 98 will take place Jan. 29 at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan., near Wichita, the promotion recently announced. The event will stream on UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Josh Fremd (6-1) will take on Bruno Oliveira (8-2) at middleweight. In the co-feature, J.J. Okanovich (7-1) meets Lucas Clay (6-1) in a lightweight fight.

“Josh Fremd became one of MMA’s biggest breakthrough stars in 2020,” LFA CEO Ed Soares stated. “He will face Brazilian standout and fellow knockout artist Bruno Oliveira in the main event of LFA 98. This is a pivotal fight in our middleweight division, but don’t expect it to go the distance.”

Fremd has four straight wins, including his past two under the LFA banner. This past August, he returned after a 20-month layoff and took out Lamar Gosey with a first-round knockout at LFA 89. He followed that up with a first-round knockout of Antonio Jones at LFA 93 in October.

Oliveira will be looking to get back in the win column. In November, he had a three-fight winning streak snapped when he was knocked out by Carlos Ulberg at a Dana White’s Contender Series event. After his shot to get into the UFC came up short, he’ll try to start a new streak in his LFA debut.
