Two featherweight grapplers are set to clash in the New Year.

The UFC announced Friday that a featherweight bout between Nik Lentz (30-11-2, 1 NC) and Mike Grundy (12-2) is set to take place on Jan. 16 at a UFC event with a location still to be made official.

Bloody Canvas was first to report the matchup.

Lentz, 36, makes his 24th UFC appearance having competed at both 145 and 155 pounds. His most recent outing was a featherweight encounter in January that he lost by unanimous decision to Arnold Allen. “The Carny” is on a two-fight losing streak that followed back-to-back wins over Scott Holtzman and Gray Maynard.

Making just his second UFC appearance, Grundy, 33, looks to bounce back from his first loss inside the octagon. After a TKO win over Nad Narimani in March of last year, Grundy dropped a decision to Movsar Evloev this past July on Fight Island. Prior to that loss, Grundy was on a nine-fight winning streak.

A featherweight bout between former UFC champion Max Holloway and top contender Calvin Kattar is expected to headline the Jan. 16 event.
