Olympic gold medalist Szymon Kolecki headlines KSW 58 alongside featherweight title fight

KSW

Olympic gold medalist Szymon Kolecki will headline KSW 58 on Jan. 30 as the former weightlifting champion takes on Martin Zawada in the headline fight from Poland.

KSW officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Saturday.

A two-time medal winner in the Olympics, Kolecki transitioned to mixed martial arts after his weightlifting career was over. He’s amassed an impressive 8-1 record so far including back-to-back wins in KSW including a TKO victory against strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski as well as a victory against Damian Janikowski in his most recent appearance.

Now Kolecki will face off with Zawada, who is the brother of current UFC fighter David Zawada.

In the co-main event, KSW featherweight champion Salahdine Parnasse will defend his title against Daniel Torres.

With an undefeated 14-0-1 record, Parnasse is considered one of the top fighters in Europe currently. He’s picked up five consecutive wins in KSW including victories in two straight title fights in the promotion.

Now he faces off with Torres, who has earned Fight of the Night honors in three of his four performances in KSW. He steps into the title fight off wins over UFC veteran Filip Pejic and PFL fighter Max Coga.

More fights will be announced in the coming weeks ahead of KSW 58 in January.
