ONE: Collision Course results: Former champ Marat Gafurov rebounds with split decision

Marat Gafurov won a split decision over previously unbeaten Loren Tynanes in Singapore. | ONE Championship

ONE Championship returned to the Singapore Indoor Stadium for a fight card on Friday morning, and judges didn’t seem to agree on much in the MMA portion of the show.

The final MMA bout of ONE: Collision Course featured former featherweight champion Marat Gafurov battling Lowen Tynanes in a lightweight contest, and both started off firing bombs on the feet. Tynanes attacked from the clinch in the second stanza, with Gafurov finally deciding to use his wrestling in the final round, securing a couple of takedowns but never really threatening with a submission. In the end, Gafurov returned to the winning column with a split decision nod.

The other split decision of the card was more controversial, though. Aside from a pair of low blows that forced Tatsumitsu Wada to take some time off to breathe and recover, his flyweight bout with Yodkaikaew Fairtex was one-way traffic, with Wada controlling Fairtex with his grappling in the first couple of rounds. That said, the former DEEP titleholder found himself on the wrong end of a split decision after two of the three judges scored the bout for Fairtex, who improved to 3-0 in the company.

In the card’s curtain jerker, Xie Wei rebounded from his first loss in the ONE cage with a third-round stoppage over Chan Rothana. The Chinese flyweight, who held a 5-0 record in the promotion prior to a January defeat to Danny Kingad, clipped Chan Rothana with a left hand and proceeded to attack him on the ground until the referee decided he had seen enough.
