Tito Ortiz has hit a major milestone in his political career.

Following Tuesday’s United States elections, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was voted into a city council seat in his native Huntington Beach, Calif.

Ortiz, 45, was one of three to earn a seat out of 15 potential candidates, garnering 11.8 percent of the vote. The others were Dan Kalmick and Natalie Moser, both Democrats.

Ortiz identifies as a Republican conservative and has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. He campaigned on many of the same talking points as the current president, who is currently in a race for re-election against Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Following the results of the Orange County elections, Ortiz took to social media to tout his victory:

A longtime star in MMA, Ortiz most recently competed at a Combate Americas show in December of last year against pro wrestling star Alberto El Patron. He defeated El Patron by first-round submission. Prior to that, Ortiz was a light heavyweight champion and contender in the UFC for over a decade and later fought for Bellator.
