Tom Breese vs. Antonio Arroyo pulled from UFC Fight Night 189 minutes before bout

Just minutes before they were scheduled to walk to the octagon, the middleweight matchup between Tom Breese and Antonio Arroyo has been pulled from the UFC Fight Night 189 lineup.

Just before the main card of Saturday’s event was set to begin, UFC officials announced Breese (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) withdrew from his clash with Arroyo (9-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) due to undisclosed reasons.

UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald said there was no clear information as to why it was yanked from the card, but UFC officials later told MMA Junkie it was an “undisclosed medical issue.”

Breese has had this situation occur before. In March 2017, Breese suffered from a “very high” heart rate that caused him to pull out of a fight with Oluwale Bamgbose at UFC Fight Night 107.

Due to the scratch, the UFC Fight Night 189 card was reduced from 14 fights to 13.

MMA Junkie will provide more updates on the situation as they become available.
