Have Tyron Woodley and Floyd Mayweather found a common enemy?

The two former combat sports champions are set to step into the boxing ring with the infamous Paul brothers, with Woodley fighting Jake Paul on Aug. 28 and Mayweather taking on Logan Paul this Sunday. While Mayweather has the more immediate task ahead of him, he’s apparently looking forward to helping Woodley prepare to fight the younger Paul brother.

At Friday’s media day in Miami for Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul, Mayweather told reporters that he wants Woodley to train with him at his gym in Las Vegas.

“Give me Tyron Woodley,” Mayweather said. “I’m gonna make sure I get in camp and I’m gonna train him for this fight. I want Tyron Woodley to come to Las Vegas and work with us.”

Later that same day, Woodley and Jake Paul were having their own media day in Miami, and Woodley confirmed that the offer to train with Mayweather is very real.

“They just texted me, let’s do it,” Woodley said. “I just talked to him today. For sure, why would I not train with the greatest boxer of all-time? He’s already my dog. We’ve been talking about training anyways, so for sure, definitely going to take him up on that.”

Woodley and Mayweather have discussed training before, though three years ago it was the then-UFC welterweight champion who was planning to help Mayweather get prepared for a rumored venture into MMA that never materialized. Now it appears that connection could pay off for Woodley as he prepares for his first fight outside of the UFC since 2012.

As far as what he expects to see when Mayweather takes on Logan Paul, Woodley expects it to be an easy night for the unbeaten boxing legend.

“It depends on what he wanna do,” Woodley said when asked for a prediction. “It’s up to him. He could get it done quick or he can make it last, he can do whatever he wants, so to be honest that fight is up to Floyd Mayweather, what he wants to happen.”
