UFC 254 ‘Fight Motion’: Khabib announces retirement after submission win

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov continued to prove he’s an unsolvable problem on the ground when he choked out Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

Right off the bat, Nurmagomedov (29-0 MMA, 13-0 UFC) pressured Gaethje (22-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC), who tried his best to keep his back off the cage. Gaethje landed solid leg kicks, but once Nurmagomedov was able to get the fight to the mat, Gaethje had no answer. Nurmagomedov locked in a triangle choke in Round 2 to submit Gaethje for his third title defense.

Also featured in the super slow-motion UFC 254 “Fight Motion” highlights is former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, who battered Jared Cannonier; Magomed Ankalaev’s first-round knockout of Ion Cutelaba; Casey Kenney and Nathaniel Wood’s “Fight of the Night” battle; and finishes from the prelims.

UFC 254 took place this past Saturday at Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The main card aired on pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN2/ESPN+ and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.
