This is the UFC 254 live blog for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje, the main event on Saturday’s main card on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
The lightweight headliner is a pivotal fight in the 155-pound division, serving as a title unifier with undisputed champ Nurmagomedov (28-0) facing off against interim champ Justin Gaethje.
Nurmagomedov has never lost in his career and has finished three of his last five fights, including the last two times he has entered the octagon. Nurmagomedov defeated Conor Mcgregor at UFC 229 via neck crank and then went on to submit Dustin Poirier via rear-naked choke at UFC 242.
Gaethje (22-2) is on a four-fight win streak after a two-fight skid. He has defeated James Vick (first-round KO), Edson Barboza (first-round KO), Donald Cerrone (first-round TKO) and Tony Ferguson (fifth-round TKO) in his last four fights. Against Ferguson, he won the interim title to set up the unifier with Nurmagomedov.
