Rafael Fiziev’s fast kicks opened the show against Renato Moicano, but his fast hands finished the job inside one round at UFC 256.

A three-piece combo – left to the body, right to the head and left to the head – dropped Moicano for the knockout at 4:05 of the opening frame on the preliminary card of Saturday’s pay-per-view at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Check out the finish below.

Moicano courted trouble by taking Fiziev’s kicks to the body and calf as the action got underway. Almost every time the lightweight Brazilian uncorked his straight right, he paid with a shin to the flank. But he also managed to place one of his punches on his opponent’s jaw, which opened up a clinch and takedown attempt. That appeared the most logical course for an opponent with a speed advantage on the feet, but Fiziev proved too tough to ground.

A few moments later, Moicano got a little too close and paid for it by taking the punches that felled him. He immediately protested the stoppage, but his lack of stability after standing up justified referee Chris Tognoni’s call.

After a loss in his octagon debut, Fiziev has won three straight fights and earned his first stoppage win. Moicano’s reinvention at lightweight hits a snag after a 44-second submission win over Damir Hadzovic in his first UFC outing at 155 pounds.
