Ige, who’s No. 8 in the UFC’s official rankings, hopes to solidify himself as a serious contender at 145 pounds after a 7-2 run in the division including a knockout win over Gavin Tucker in March that won him his second performance bonus. His fight with Zombie is another shot at a top-ranked fighter that could be the bridge to a title eliminator in the near future. Zombie, a one-time title challenger, is left in the position of beating back a rising contender. At No. 4, he stands to lose the most after a lopsided decision loss to Brian Ortega in his previous outing. The 34-year-old veteran spoke openly about retirement after his most recent loss, but decided to take another run at the featherweight belt.
