Chan Sung Jung got a much-needed bounceback win in the main event of this past Saturday’s UFC Vegas 29 event — but it may have come at a price.
“The Korean Zombie” earned a unanimous decision win over Dan Ige in a pivotal featherweight matchup at the UFC APEX. Jung returned in the win column after suffering a lopsided decision loss to the next title challenger, Brian Ortega, at October’s UFC Fight Island 6 event.
Although victorious, Jung found himself on the list of seven fighters who were issued potential six-month suspensions from the Nevada Athletic Commission, according to the list of medical suspensions acquired by mixedmartialarts.com.
Jung must have an MRI on his left shoulder and clearance from an orthopedic doctor or he will be forced to sit until Dec. 17. In addition, Jung will have no contact until July 11 for a laceration on his left eyebrow.
Ige was issued a suspension until July 20 and will have no contact until July 11 due to a lip laceration.
In addition, Dhiego Lima (right knee), Davey Grant (nasal bone fracture), Kanako Murata (left elbow), Matthew Semelsberger (nose), Josh Parisian (nasal fracture), and Casey O’Neill (left hand) could also see up to six months on the sidelines following their recent bouts.
