Video: Poland welcomes Jan Blachowicz home with massive hero’s welcome following UFC title win

The UFC crowned the second Polish champion in company history Saturday – and the celebration is still going.

New UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz touched down on native soil Monday following a trip home from his title-earning second-round victory over Dominick Reyes at UFC 253.

Blachowicz (27-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) was greeted with a hero’s welcome as hundreds of people stormed the airport to catch a glimpse of Poland’s newest UFC champion.

As Blachowicz and his cornermen walked with their luggage, a massive crowd surfaced in the distance. Supporters chanted Blachowicz’s name as pictures were taken, handshakes were offered, and hugs were given out.

Blachowicz, 37, is the first Polish men’s UFC titleholder in the promotion’s history. From December 2014 to November 2017, Poland’s Joanna Jedrzejczyk reigned as queen of the UFC’s 115-pound division.

UFC 253 took place Saturday at Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card streamed on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
