Colby Covington’s rise up the UFC’s welterweight rankings has featured an array of finishes.
A standout wrestler in college, Covington (15-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) made his UFC debut in 2014 and finished four of his first five UFC wins. He had one blemish on his record in 2015, but went on to win his next seven fights en route to capturing the UFC interim welterweight title.
Covington then unsuccessfully challenged welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 but, despite that defeat, his relentless pace, cardio and wrestling mean he remains one of the top contenders at 170 pounds.
Covington will look to establish himself as the No. 1 contender when he takes on arch-rival Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 36, which takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
