Charles Jourdain has a new opponent for his upcoming matchup.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Steve Garcia is out of his scheduled featherweight bout, and Jourdain will now face promotional newcomer Marcelo Rojo at the UFC Vegas 21, which takes place March 13 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Entre Rounds was first to report the new booking.

The reason for Garcia’s scratch is unknown.

Jourdain will look to get back in the win column for the first time since December 2019. “Air” competed twice in 2020, dropping a split decision in an entertaining bout with Andre Fili this past June at UFC Vegas 10 event and then fighting Joshua Culibao to a split draw four months later. The former TKO champion is set to make his fifth octagon appearance.

Rojo didn’t have to wait long for his promotional debut to be booked. He was scheduled to face Raoni Barcelos as a short notice replacement on Saturday at UFC Vegas 20 before Barcelos announced he tested positive for COVID-19. “El Pitbull” is a winner of three of his last four, including a September 2019 knockout win at Combate Americas 45 in his most recent appearance.

The UFC Vegas 21 will be headlined by a welterweight matchup between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad.
