Dramatic cell phone video allegedly shows former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez involved in a high-speed chase after he allegedly shot a man inside of a pickup truck.
Velasquez, 39, is facing an attempted murder charge, as well as multiple counts of assault with a gun and deadly weapon, in connection with the roadside encounter that took place Monday. According to the San Jose (Calif.) Police Department’s “statement of facts,” Velasquez followed the parents of 43-year-old Harry Goularte from their San Martin home to Morgan Hill. They were picking up Goularte, who last week was arrested and charged with molesting a close underage relative of Velasquez, but was out on bail. After the parents picked up Goularte in their Chevy Silverado, Velasquez continued following them and shot into the vehicle.
At one point, Velasquez “was able to close the distance and ram the Silverado with his Ford” at in intersection before firing several shots with a .40 caliber pistol, according to the police report. Goularte’s stepfather was struck by a bullet during the encounter.
The cell phone video, obtained by NBC Bay Area, appears to show Velasquez in an SUV chasing down a truck with bullet holes and dents on the passenger’s side. The footage lasts about 10 seconds and offers a glimpse into what transpired.

Velasquez’s alleged actions occurred after his close relative told authorities they were repeatedly molested by a man at a home daycare run by Goularte’s mother, where Velasquez had been a client for the past two years. Goularte is facing a felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14.
Velasquez remains in custody at the Santa Clara County main jail after his Wednesday arraignment was postponed until Monday at the request of his attorney. He will remain jailed until at least then, when a judge could decide to set bail.
If convicted of attempted murder, Velasquez faces a minimum of 20 years and up to life in prison. He faces additional time if found guilty of other counts.
