Cody Law ready for a step up in competition after first-round finish at Bellator 271

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Cody Law thinks it’s time to take his career to the next level.

A decorated collegiate wrestler, Law (5-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) showed vast improvements in his standup when he stopped Colton Hamm in the first round at Bellator 271 this past Friday.

The unbeaten 26-year-old prospect has looked nothing short of impressive so far in his MMA career, but is ready to seriously test himself by taking on stiffer competition.

“I think so, what do you think?” Law asked reporters, including MMA Junkie, following the event. “(I want) whoever puts me closer to the belt. Give me somebody – I’ll beat them and move forward. I would imagine next fight, maybe next spring.”

It’s been an active year for Law, who wasted no time bursting onto the pro MMA scene with five wins in one calendar year. He intends on continuing to be busy as long as his team supports his strenuous schedule.

“Five fights in one year, I feel like I’ve improved each fight,” Law said. “I’ve got to improve a lot more of the next one, but I’m excited to see where I’m at next year.

“I’m never going to slow down, but I’m going to listen to people around me. We’ll see. Three, four, five fights next year – who knows what’s going to happen. But I’ll listen to my coaches and we’ll see what happens.”

Bellator 271 took place Friday at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. To see the full interview with Law, check out the video above.
