Dissecting a masterclass: Just how good was Israel Adesanya at UFC 253?

ABU DHABI – Just how good is Israel Adesanya?

Adesanya (20-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) added Paulo Costa’s name to his lengthy list of wins this past Saturday, when he defeated his Brazilian rival by second-round TKO at UFC 253.

After a tactical first round against Costa (13-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC), which included a plethora of heavy leg kicks, Adesanya found a fight-ending combination in the second round en route to retaining his middleweight championship for the second time.

On Tuesday, three UFC fighters-turned-commentators weighed in on the performance during a series of interviews. Paul Felder, Dan Hardy and Angela Hill each offered a unique perspective on Adesanya’s performance.

Check out Felder, Hill, and Hardy analyze Adesanya’s title-retaining win over Costa in the video above.

UFC 253 took place Saturday at Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card streamed live on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+. The event was the first of five the promotion is holding during its second stint on “Fight Island.”
