Strawweights Emily Whitmire and Hannah Cifers are set to fight in February.

MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Whitmire (4-4) and Cifers (10-7) will face off at a UFC event on Feb. 27 with a location still to be determined.

This is an important fight for both women, who are seeking to end losing streaks. Whitmire has lost two straight fights while Cifers is on a four-fight skid.

A contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 26, Whitmire rebounded from a loss to Gillian Robertson at the TUF 26 Finale with back-to-back wins over Aleksandra Albu and Jamie Moyle. However, she has since lost two straight by submission to Polyana Viana and Amanda Ribas.

Cifers had a busy 2020, though not a successful one. “Shockwave”fought four times this year including three appearances from May to August. She failed to make it past the second round in any of these appearances, losing to Mallory Martin, Mariya Agapova, Mackenzie Dern, and Angela Hill. Her UFC record sits at 2-5.

A light heavyweight contenders bout between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka will reportedly serve as the headliner for the Feb. 27 Fight Night event.
