Francis Ngannou reacts to Logan Paul’s alleged big payday to box Floyd Mayweather: ‘What are we doing wrong?’

Francis Ngannou was left shaking his head at the amount of money Logan Paul made for his exhibition boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

The eight-round fight went the distance during Sunday night’s Showtime PPV event where Mayweather did what many expected him to do and outclass the YouTube star. MMA Fighting scored the bout 80-72 for the 50-0 former multi-time world champion, although there were no official cards tallied.

While payouts have not been officially disclosed, Paul—an 0-1 pro boxer—told TMZ that there was a chance he could make upwards of $20 million to box Mayweather.

That number, whether accurate or not, has left the current UFC heavyweight champion wondering how things could change from a financial standpoint in the world of mixed martial arts.

“It’s crazy to think that Logan Paul (0-1) just made $20 [million] on a boxing exhibition,” Ngannou wrote. “What are we doing wrong?”

Ngannou captured the UFC heavyweight title with a second-round KO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 in March. “The Predator” has finished his last five opponents, with the previous four not making it past the 1:11 mark of the first round. The 34-year-old has expressed pay concerns in the past when attempting to set up a showdown with former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Now that he’s the champion, money still seems to be an issue in getting a fight together between Ngannou and Jones, more so on the latter side. However, according to Dana White, Derrick Lewis is the favorite to be standing across from Ngannou for his first title defense sometime this summer.
