Mick Maynard’s Shoes: What’s next for Jairzinho Rozenstruik after UFC Fight Night 189 win?

Jairzinho Rozenstruik offered a reminder that he’s still a dangerous hitter in the heavyweight division Saturday when he emerged victorious from the UFC Fight Night 189 main event.

Rozenstruik (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) was victorious in an octagon headliner for the second time in his career, delivering a buzzer-beater TKO of Augusto Sakai (15-3-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in the opening round of their clash at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Coming into the fight, Rozenstruik was No. 7 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie heavyweight rankings, and at worst he maintained that position by beating Sakai in a definitive manner.

Rozenstruik did not make any specific callouts post-fight, and said his only two requests were to make a quick turnaround in the next few months, and get a name who is above him in the rankings.

Is that an achievable goal for him? Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on Rozenstruik’s future after his win at UFC Fight Night 189.
