Morning Report: Anderson Silva gives up first-class seat to Tito Ortiz’s girlfriend on post-fight flight

There’s a reason Anderson Silva is a beloved member of the MMA community and it’s not just because he’s one of the best fighters of all time.

This past weekend, Silva continued his late-career Renaissance by demolishing Tito Ortiz in just 81-seconds in their boxing match at Triller Fight Club. The win was the second boxing win of 2021 for Silva, following his decision win over former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this summer and has drawn much praise for Silva’s ability to still excel in combat sports even at age 46. But Silva isn’t just impressing in the ring these days, he’s also impressing outside of it.

Following their fight on Saturday, both Silva and Ortiz were booked on the same flight back to Los Angeles and, according to Ortiz, there was a mix up where he and Silva were actually booked to sit next to each other in first class, leaving Ortiz’s girlfriend Amber Nicole Miller without a first-class seat. Fortunately, Silva stepped up and offered his seat to Miller.

“I’m on a flight right now, I’m going back to L.A. I think the biggest thing Anderson Silva’s ever done to me, I’m very thankful, he just actually gave up his first-class ticket for Amber to sit here,” Ortiz said on his Instagram story (h/t The Mac Life). “The airline messed up and Anderson Silva gave the seat up for Amber to sit next to me. Anderson Silva, you’re the man, dude. I appreciate it, thank you very much. Amazing man, nothing but respect. Even after the fight, he gave it up and let Amber sit here. Thank you, Anderson, I appreciate it. You’re the man. Mad respect dude.”

Silva has long been considered one of the most beloved fighters in MMA history and this is just another example of what makes “The Spider” one of the all-time greats. And fortunately for us, there’s still more to come from Silva. Following his victory over Ortiz, Silva said he’s not interested in retiring yet, and he’s targeting a future matchup against one of the Paul brothers.
