Conor McGregor is not handling his most recent loss very well.
Earlier this month at UFC 264, McGregor faced Dustin Poirier in the first trilogy fight of his career and things could hardly have gone any worse. After a failed guillotine attempt that led to him getting dominated for most of the first round, with just a few seconds left in the first, McGregor stood up, entered an exchange with Poirier, and then stepped back and snapped his leg in half, resulting in a doctor’s stoppage TKO.
In the immediate aftermath, McGregor was livid. He called for a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan while lying on the canvas and being tended to by the medical staff and from there McGregor unleashed a crass diatribe about Poirier’s wife and threatened to kill him and his family in their sleep. This cut a stark contrast to McGregor’s demeanor when Poirier knocked him out in January, where McGregor was complimentary of Poirier’s performance, and it seems that McGregor is only just getting started.
On Monday, in a since-deleted Tweet, McGregor once again went off on “The Diamond”, dismissing Poirier’s win and mocking Poirier’s claim that a checked leg kick is what broke McGregor’s leg.

McGregor didn’t stop there though. Immediately following UFC 264, McGregor’s bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov tweeted that “good always defeats evil” and McGregor appeared to respond to Khabib by mocking his dead father.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov died last year due to complications from COVID-19. McGregor’s Tweet is a continuation of extremely personal attacks made against Nurmagomedov who famously submitted him at UFC 229 before attacking McGregor’s team and starting the most notorious brawl in MMA history.
McGregor is currently stuck on the sidelines recovering from his broken leg, however, UFC President Dana White has suggested that when he’s healed, they will look into putting together a fourth fight between he and Poirier.
