“Bragging Rights.”
That’s how Showtime has been marketing the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul exhibition boxing match for the past month or so. Mayweather is in the conversation as the greatest boxer of all time, but if he can beat a social media influencer, he’ll really have bragging rights.
About that, though: Turns out there will be no official winner.
ESPN’s Marc Raimondi spoke with an official from the Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation, which ultimately is responsible for Sunday’s pay-per-view headliner at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Here’s the deal:
Mayweather vs. Paul rules, per Florida commission:
— No judges
— No official winner read
— Knockouts legal
— KO up to ref discretion
— No headgear
— 12 oz. gloves

- There won’t be any judges.
- There won’t be an official winner.
- But there can be knockouts, which are up to the discretion of the referee.
- No headgear will be worn.
- Gloves will be 12 ounces.
- The fight is eight 3-minute rounds.
Mayweather vs. Paul is not officially being sanctioned by the Florida Boxing Commission because of the size difference between them. For his last fight against Conor McGregor, McGregor tipped the scale at 149.5 pounds, while Paul weighed 199.4 for his 2019 boxing debut against fellow YouTuber KSI.
So, yeah. That’s what this fight is all about. As if you weren’t already wondering what’s the point, let me repeat: WHAT’S THE POINT?
