Sam Alvey vs. Roman Kopylov co-main event scrapped from UFC Vegas 33 card on Saturday

The UFC Vegas 33 card has lost the co-main event scheduled for Saturday.

A middleweight between Sam Alvey and Roman Kopylov has been scrapped from the fight card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

UFC officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Monday after Alvey first revealed the information on his TikTok page.

According to Alvey, he was informed that the fight was scrapped just as he was leaving for Las Vegas after learning that Kopylov was unable to get into the United States from Russia.

Unfortunately due to the late notice, there was no time to secure a new opponent to face Alvey this weekend, and he’s expected to be booked instead for a fight in August. Details on the new fight have not been released just yet.

As for the UFC Vegas 33 card, the new bout order for Saturday night lists a welterweight bout between Mounir Lazzez and Niklas Stolze as the co-main event behind the featured bout pitting Uriah Hall against Sean Strickland in a five-round fight at middleweight.

UFC Vegas 33 will now move forward with 14 total bouts on the card.
