UFC free fight: Alistair Overeem snaps losing skid with first-round stoppage of Sergei Pavlovich

When his back was against the wall, Alistair Overeem fought back in emphatic fashion.

Overeem faced Sergei Pavlovich in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 141 in November 2018 looking to snap a two-fight losing skid, and the big Dutchman delivered in fine style.

It took Overeem about a minute to settle in as he ate a few shots from Pavlovich, before he stepped inside and engaged in the clinch. Pavlovich was able to break free but, shortly after, Overeem landed a big right and moved straight into a Thai clinch before tossing Pavlovich to the ground. From that point on, it was all Overeem, who rained down a barrage of ground strikes to stop Pavlovich in the first round.

Since then, Overeem (47-18 MMA, 12-7 UFC) has won three of his past four and is coming off back-to-back finishes of Walt Harris and Augusto Sakai. He returns to action on Feb. 6 when he takes on Alexander Volkov (32-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 184, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 6 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Before he faces Volkov, relive Overeem’s finish of Pavlovich in the video above.
