Video: Is Daniel Cormier’s ‘Towelgate’ confession no big deal or no laughing matter?

Five years later, Daniel Cormier finally confessed to “Towelgate.”

During his Hall of Fame induction speech last week, Cormier admitted that he intentionally grabbed the towel while on the scale to make weight for his light heavyweight title fight against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210. If you recall, Cormier was 1.2 pounds over the championship weight limit on his first try then came back for a second without cutting more weight and hit the 205 mark.

Video evidence clearly showed that Cormier manipulated the scale reading by grabbing onto a towel held by New York State Athletic Commission officials as Cormier stripped down. All these years, Cormier denied intentionally grabbing the towel and when he finally confessed, we all got a laugh – including the UFC through its official social media channels.

But is Cormier’s cheating no big deal or no laughing matter? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Matthew Wells, and Brian “Goze” Garcia weigh in with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.

You can watch their discussion above and check out this week’s full episode below.
