Video: Is UFC’s debut on ABC that big of a deal?

The UFC has been on network television before, and now the promotion is getting ready to return with UFC on ABC 1.

On Monday, the promotion confirmed an earlier MMA Junkie report that its Jan. 16 UFC Fight Night main card, headlined by Max Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar, will air on ABC. For those who aren’t aware, ABC is owned by Disney, which also owns UFC broadcast partner ESPN. As of now, only this one event is earmarked for ABC, which aired some of the biggest bouts in boxing history decades ago. It’ll mark the UFC’s return to network TV for the first time since December 15, 2018 with UFC on FOX 31, which ended the promotion’s seven-year partnership with FOX Sports before switching to ESPN.

So what do we think? Is the UFC’s return to network TV a big deal or not? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Farah Hannoun, and Brian “Goze” Garcia weighed in during this week’s episode.
