UFC Vegas 34 is down to 13 fights after visa issues scratched Liana Jojua from a bout against Cortney Casey.
The promotion hopes to rebook the flyweight bout at a later date, though the booking depends on Jojua’s visa status, a person with knowledge of negotiations told MMA Fighting after an initial report from MMA Junkie.
The UFC on Thursday released the full fight card for the Aug. 21 event, and Casey vs. Jojua was absent from the list. Visa issues have scratched several fighters from UFC cards due to travel restrictions and delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Jojua hasn’t fought since October 2020, when she suffered a TKO loss to Miranda Maverick, leaving her octagon record at 1-2. Casey most recently appeared in March at UFC Vegas 21, where she suffered a split call loss to JJ Aldrich. One of the most experienced competitors in the octagon, she stands at 5-8 overall in the UFC.
UFC Vegas 34 is headlined by a middleweight fight between one-time interim title challenger Kelvin Gastelum and Jared Cannonier.
