Jan Blachowicz returned to his home country of Poland for the first time since becoming the undisputed UFC light heavyweight champion and was greeted by hundreds of his hometown faithful.

The 37-year-old captured the title with a second-round TKO finish of Dominick Reyes in the co-main event of UFC 253 this past Saturday night. Blachowicz, a winner of four straight and eight of his last nine, landed in Poland on Monday morning to a hero’s welcome in a moment captured by local sports network TVP Sport.

Blachowicz earned his opportunity to fight for his first UFC world title with a first-round knockout victory over Corey Anderson in the main event of UFC Rio Rancho in February.

After putting Reyes away in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night, Blachowicz immediately called for a fight against former, longtime 205-pound titleholder Jon Jones. UFC president Dana White appreciated the callout from his new light heavyweight champion, but believes that the winner of the Nov. 7 matchup between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira will be his likely first challenger.

“Those are the guys that are fighting for the next shot,” White said about Santos vs. Teixeira. “But obviously if Jon Jones wanted that fight, we wouldn’t deny Jon Jones the opportunity.”
